GLOBAL WARMING OR NUCLEAR WAR?

Don't you find it a little hard to believe that there is a large group of people in this country that consider "global warming" to be the greatest threat to the future of this planet? With all that is going on in the Middle East and the rest of the Arab Muslim world with the threat of World War III, don't you find that rather strange? Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, with all his rhetoric in his quest to obtain nuclear weapons, has promised on numerous occasions to wipe Israel off the map and has placed the rest of the civilized world on alert. A preemptive strike by Israel on Iran could trigger all sorts of unimaginable scenarios. An attack by Iran on Israel could bring the United States and several other countries into the conflict on a much larger scale. Pakistan, India, and Israel have nuclear capabilities, and in the last few days we have witnessed how unstable the political situation in Pakistan, a Muslim nation, has become. It is not known for certain that several Muslim states that were part of the former Soviet Union have nuclear weapons or not.

Nevertheless, the Greenland ice flows are melting, sea levels are rising and the polar bears are going to drown has become the mantra for the left wing environmentalists in this country. It doesn't matter that the opposite is taking place on the other end of the globe. They are undermining our efforts and disparaging our troops in our war against the evil that threatens every Christian and Jew and lover of freedom and democracy on this blue orb. The not so "mainstream media," network television particularly, are aiding and abetting this push for all of us to cut back our lifestyles by limiting our energy usage. Raising our taxes is the answer to get us on board with the rest of the world to fight this threat to humanity. After all, isn't it the United States and capitalism that is using up the world's resources and creating the most pollution? By being on the politically correct side of the issue, the four major networks began the new fall season by kicking off with a "GOING GREEN" campaign. As the networks battle for ratings, the "GOING GREEN" campaign hopefully will accomplish two things. Since we are all dying to do our part, the campaign will make us feel good about ourselves while watching their programming and remind us that we should elect politicians that place this issue at the top of their agenda. This means of course, taking absurdities to new levels. The networks have stated that this crusade against "global warming" as if man really had something to do with the cause of it, is not a political. Pardon me, but it is. When the television networks invite former senator and Vice President Al Gore on their early morning shows to talk about this scam of all scams, it erased any doubts in my mind as to its intentions. Thank God for the Writers' strike. After Al Gore's got his Oscar for "An Inconvenient Truth",business analysts are saying that Hollywood is dying because business is so bad; does anyone have a shovel? I forgot to mention that Al Gore is co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize this year. Palestinian Liberation Organization President Yassir Arafat, a member of the Black September thugs that murdered the Israeli Wrestling Team members at the 1972 Munich Olympics was also a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Being a member of the news media for forty plus years, I was there in the heyday when television news was heralded on the three major networks of that time. I filmed the stories and wrote none of the copy. Oftentimes, I disagreed with what was being written about what I just filmed. The reason that I came to realize why, was that liberals had control of the media, both print and broadcast. They presented themselves to everyone that they were "objective" even though I look back now and see the great majority weren't. I admit, they did a good job of concealing their prejudices. They had me fooled to the point that I thought that I was the one that was out of step because of my Conservative views. When I strongly took exception to what was written about a story in which I filmed, I was shunned, even ridiculed complete with rolling eyes and "Oh please!" Being a Christian in that kind of environment was tough and I endured a lot of persecution in the workplace. There were those that tried to get me fired by building a case that I was troublemaker. However, the Lord stood by me during those times. I retired recently with forty years service and all those that tried to get rid of me are long gone. At my retirement party, I was honored with a lot of kind words and praises. My family was impressed by all that was said about me.

Looking back over forty years, I witnessed the rise of the communist-socialist left in this country. "Make Love, Not War" was their chant as they marched by the thousands in the streets of the United States. The pressure this movement exerted forced the politicos in Washington to withdraw our troops from Viet Nam. Even though the American forces had decimated the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong as a fighting force during the Tet Offensive of 1968. Why did we pull out? Because our "most trusted man in America" Walter Cronkite declared that the war was unwindable. Now, it is known that Walter Cronkite is a firm liberal on the same scale of that of Jimmy Carter. A large number of the dope-smoking leftists that marched in protest to the Viet Nam war in the sixties are now occupying seats of power in all branches of our federal government; from the House and Senate, the Courts, and the State Department. Others have found tenure and position in our colleges and universities where they are now propagandizing our sons and daughters in the captive audience of the classroom and using their grades to force the issues like having to watch Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth." The remaining dregs, few in number, are still marching and protesting try to drum up sentiment against the war, trying to make it another Viet Nam. The environmental movement has become their RELIGION and has become the number one item on their agenda. They are using the movement to subvert the rest of us into adopting their socialist ideology while feeling sorry for the polar bears.

The left have tried to make the "War on Terror" another Viet Nam. They have failed. We are winning the war in Iraq in spite of a lot of political resistance here at home. Instead, we are being besieged by left-winged liberals in the media with a lot of propaganda about global warming. All this alarm about our planet being in peril that is being aimed at us is political; make no mistake about it. This was all prophesied by our Lord in Luke 21:25-28. And there will be signs in sun moon and stars, and upon the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, :26 men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. :27 And they shall see THE SON OF MAN coming in a cloud with power and great glory. :28 But when these things take place,straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

THOU SHALT NOT COVET

We are all familiar with the Commandments, at least, we SHOULD all be familiar with the Ten Commandments. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery. There is one, however, that is hardly ever mentioned. This, the Tenth Commandment, is more often ignored than not, and few people even know what it means. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour's. (Exodus 20:17)
Let us put this in today's vernacular. Thou shall not desire your neighbor's wife(husband) nor his house, nor his servants, his Mercedes Benz, nor his Rolex, nor his job or position. This sin is especially destructive in that the desire leads to other sins: adultery, theft, murder, and bearing false witness. Covetousness boiled down is lust: lust for the flesh that takes shape in the acts of adultery and fornication. A lust for material things which leads to a lust for power, for position, and for prestige.

The following are some comments by my proofreader and editor Karen Pearcey regarding what was mentioned above.

The specific words here are 'your neighbor's' -- wanting something LIKE what your neighbor has is not wrong. 'Keeping up with the Jones' family' was not expressly prohibited. What WAS prohibited was the notion that 'might makes right' and I am entitled to TAKE what belongs to someone else just because I am who I am ... this arrogance of self is what the commandment prohibits. To see ourselves as above and beyond the law. David's abuse of power when he takes Bathsheba from her husband. The Pharisees' attacks on Jesus because they want the charismatic abilities He has over the multitudes. Saul's visit to the witches because he wants to return to power as King of Israel and discredit David's lawful and God-ordained claim to the throne. Eve who wanted the knowledge she knew that God alone possesses, and was persuaded to eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. The list of offenders is Biblically long. Wanting EXACTLY what someone else has been given, and having the desire to TAKE that specific gift away from someone else is an act of supreme arrogance and ego, in defiance of a God who gives all good gifts.)

Desire itself is not wrong. We are all better people when we set a goal, work hard to accomplish that goal, and then finally receive a reward. God rewards the diligent. Where the error of our ways comes into play is how we do, or what we do, in order to get what we want. Covetousness
is the desires which become obsessions, making us willing to do whatever it takes to win. The fault lies in compromising principles, going along with the consensus because that is the popular thing to do.

In the business world, how often have we seen where the "dog eats dog" cliche is both acceptable and expected? Ambition, the lust for money and power, does not count how many people must one trample on to get to the top. We can see this condition today in the world of politics, when politicians or political parties will do anything to gain power. The ambitious will resort to "spin", which is our sanitized word for lying or misrepresenting the truth, character assasination, making false accusations, and deliberately trying to destroy another's credibility by any means possible. The liberal left in this country are known for this underhanded kind of political strategy, and we can see a new incident virtually every day on display in our country.

The commentators on the evening political talk shows would rather be amused by how certain politicians will attempt to spin their way out of situations, rather than have the moral and social conscience to confront these politicians and demand that they speak the truth. Our own President Bush has had to endure insults, slander, accusations, and allegations on a level that no other president has had to endure. The Hand of God has been upon this man, quite obviously, and our prayers have put a hedge of protection around him, that no weapon formed against him shall prosper.

Closer to home, while covering the News for WSB-TV in Atlanta, I once did a story on a student who was beaten up on his way to school, and the culprits stole the child's "Air Jordan" athletic shoes. Covetness leads to greed, jealousy, envy, theft, and eventually, murder. No other sin affects others on a personal basis in the same way that covetousness spills over from our lives into the lives of others. One scenario played out daily on school campuses around the country involves class envy and jealousy. Fights and confrontations break out between students, the 'have nots' pick fights with the 'haves' -- each defined basically by the latest fashionable styles of clothing. Those 'in style' look down on those who 'aren't', and those that 'aren't' despise those who 'are'. The only viable solution? A growing number of school systems have adopted the policy of uniforms for everyone.

Godly desire is necessary for us to be effective human beings. Afterall desire is what motivates us. Without desire, very little of any worth would be accomplished. While we are in pursuit of our dreams, we are to be content at where we are. Contentment is the opposite of Covetousness. The Apostle Paul said to the Phillipians, not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content. Phil. 4:11

In our quest to aquire things we soon find ourselves with an abundance excess baggage which does little or nothing to reach even the threshold of contentment, but only fuels our desire to aquire more. Our quest for success becomes a question of where we place our priorities.

(Karen's note: I am reminded here of George Carlin's routine about "stuff" -- that we live all our lives consumed with acquiring "stuff" and places to put our "stuff". The more "stuff" we acquire, the bigger the places we need to keep our "stuff", until -- like the man in Scripture who said, "I have all I need. Tomorrow I will tear down my barns to build bigger barns" -- we eventually leave our "stuff" to others for whom it may have little or no value.)

As our Lord so aptly summarized in Mathew 16:26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?

THE LESSONS OF HISTORY

Too many people have not taken their history lessons seriously, or see no important reason for having learned the lessons in the first place, and these people have put themselves into a room with no windows. History begins for them at the moment of their own birth, and all they can relate to is what few life experiences they have had.

These unfortunate, self-deprived individuals are attracted to others with the same shallow views of life, lessons learned mostly while attending liberal colleges and universities. They view themselves as being smarter and brighter than anyone else. They are told that they must be the ones to make the world a better place. They join a cause to give meaning and purpose to their shallow lives. They become involved in the anti-war movement, environmental movements, or some other well-meaning cause. These "enlightened ones" become sponges for all the indoctrination and propaganda, both subliminally and superficially, as they are being fed the lies and distortions of the left-wing saturated academia. Every new cause becomes a new religion. Josef Stalin referred to this kind of person as a "useful idiot", and he manipulated these so-called brightest and smartest to advance the Communist Manifesto, gaining control and forming the Soviet Union. Since "useful idiots" never study history, or take the lessons of history seriously, they do not realize that people just like they are allowed Hitler to grab power in the 1930's. They are the same people who allowed the Communists to become the dominant force in Europe during the Cold War. These deceived people failed to see that what they became were political slaves, simply because of their "enlightened " pacifism. By the time they realized what was happening, their own dissent tactics were held against them, and they were the first ones hauled off to the gulags.

On September 2, 1945, General Douglas MacArthur was on board the battleship Missouri in Tokyo Bay when the Japanese formally surrendered to the United States and the Allies in Pacific. In an address following the ceremony, he said: "As long as we ignore the lessons of history, we are doomed to repeat it." He later commented on the utter destructiveness of the atomic bomb, a destructiveness which quickly brought the war to an end: "Military alliances, Leagues of Nations, all in turn have failed, leaving the only path to be by the way of the crucible of war. The utter destructiveness of war now blocks out this alternative. We have had our last chance. If we will not devise some greater and equitable system, Armageddon will be at our door."

Over and over, history has shown us that no "magic" system exists, and that spineless negotiations do not work. The United Nations is a corrupt organization, with most of the member nations holding an anti-American stance, and nearly all of the nations anti-Semitic. Negotiations and appeasement only postpone the inevitable, and our enemies that are hell-bent on our demise look at our inaction as weakness on our part.

Since the obvious lessons of history have been ignored, nuclear annihilation is an increasing possibility, especialy since the breakup of the Soviet Union, and the harsh fact that several Islamic states now have access to nuclear weapons. In addition, Pakistan, India, North Korea, and Israel have also armed themselves with nuclear technology. Best estimates are that this group will be joined by Iran within the next two to five years. Iran's fanatical leader, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has on numerous occasions denied that the holocaust ever happened, and that it his intention to destroy Israel and wipe that nation from the face of the earth. The world is now waiting to see if Israel will make a preemptive strike on Iran. Israel, on constant threat alert, just recently flew into Syria and took out a possible missile launching installation without being detected. If Syria launched a gas attack against Israel, should we be surprised if Israel retaliates totally in kind, and as a result, destroys Damascus in a fulfilment of prophecy?

Of course, if we follow this scenerio to the logical conclusion, the rest of the Arab world would be so outraged that they would try to rally the other Arab nations to launch an all-out invasion against Israel, but would hesitate, because the Arab world is very much aware of the "Samson Option" that Israel will use if it is forced into a position of ultimate defense. If everything else fails, launch everything you have against your enemies, realizing that in doing so you will probably be destroyed as well. The option refers, naturally, to Samson, who killed 5000 Philistines in Gaza when he brought down their pagan temple on them. In his death, Samson killed more people in one act than he had killed in all his other battles combined while he was alive.

Israel captured Gaza during the 1967 War, but recently gave it back in the "Land for Peace" deal. Since then, the Gaza strip has become a haven for Al Qaida terrorists.

So... there is not really a question about whether or not these events will happen. The real question is "When?" God would not have us in ignorance and darkness, which is why He has spoken to us through His prophets. Scripture tells us that in the latter days, the books will be opened when men will run rapidly to and fro and knowledge will vastly increase. Presently the sum of man's knowledge is doubling every two years. The books have been sealed, but now they have been opened. Other prophesies are also really starting to make sense in light of what is going on the Middle East and the Arab world. The faithful few in Europe are going to undergo tremendous persecution, and their tribulation is best described as being horrific. As the Word says to those undergoing persecution, " Look up for My time draweth nigh. " We Christians in the United States have been alerted to what is going on, and we know that it is extremely important for us to make sure the right person is seated in the Oval Office. The leader of the United States is undoubtably one of the most powerful individuals in the world, and we do not exaggerate to say that the decisions made by that person could quite possibly determine the future of all mankind.

In any event, we must be ready for the Coming of the Lord.

THE ENEMY WITHIN

Ever since Hal Lindsey wrote the Late Great Planet Earth back in 1970,I have been interested in end time prophesy. I confess that when I started delving into this challenging and thought provoking subject I was a bit confused and with the world situation the way it was (The Cold War) I couldn't see how much of what Lindsey wrote would be possible. Of all Lindsey's predictions, the one that stands out the most is the reforming of the old Roman Empire into what Lindsey dubbed the United States of Europe. From its capital the anti-christ would arise. Lindsey predicted that there would be ten member states, and this would actually become the European Union. In today's European Union there are 27 states, and with the additional states being those that broke away from the former Soviet Union. Whether or not some mergers will take place, or the present setup will be dumped in favor of a new one remains to be seen. It must be noted however that in the western alliance, there are just ten member states. All of this of course is subject to change.

In most end time prophetic literature, one thing is apparent concerning the United States. It's not mentioned. Perhaps this is why I feel that the United States is a nation apart, sanctified if you will, because we are One Nation Under God. We were founded on Godly principles. Another reason is that we are the most blessed nation of earth is that we are Israel's only true ally.

Within the year of following the 911 attack on the World Trade Towers, the 911 Commission was established. One of their first jobs was to find out why the Muslim world hated us. We as Christians know the obvious reason. It's because we are friends with Israel. God says in His Word that He would Bless the nation that blesses Israel and curse the ones that curse Israel.

I remember when President Clinton invited Yassir Arafat, a known terrorist, one of those that took part in the massacre of Israeli Olympic team members in Munich, Germany in 1972, to stay overnight at the White House. It wasn't long after that President Clinton's personal problems and scandals began to emerge. When President Bush took office, he reestablished support for Israel and our economy took off. Israel has been an indispensable ally in the War on Terror.

Another thing that stands out about Lindsey's predictions from the seventies is the Gog and Magog as mentioned in the Book of Daniel are states that were once part of the former Soviet Union, all Islamic, along with nations of Europe would rise up against Israel. What puzzled me about this was how could Christian nations such as Italy and France knowing what the Jews have gone through with the holocaust and present day anti-semitism go along with the destruction of Israel? The answer is becoming more clear. The immigration of Muslims into Europe has reached alarming proportions. While the Europeans have been engaging in immoral sexual behavior and aborting their babies, the average Muslim family is having an average of eight. Already throngs of Muslims are marching and making demands throughout Europe. This March of Peace took place in the UK in February of this year. The passive and politically correct governments are cowering to their demands and the situation is getting worse. In the foreseeable future, the French are going to wake up and discover that they are now an Islamic republic.

Since the United States is not referred to in the end time prophesies doesn't necessarily mean that we are not going to be involved. From all the prophesies concerning the end time we are told that the events that are to take place are going to happen in that part of the world, in the Middle East, Europe, and Western Asia. In the the destruction and tribulation and destruction of Israel, one of two or possibly both may take place. It would have to happen so quickly that the United States would have little or no time to react. The other really scares me, that the United States abandons Israel and leaves them hanging out to dry. Israel would then be left with only its Samson Option, destroy yourselves and takes as many of your enemies with you as you can. A lot depends on who we elect as President of the United States whether or not the United States supports Israel. The Europeans, and their associates in this country consider themselves to be superior and enlightened in their cowardly passiveness have failed to learn from the lessons of history and are doomed to repeat it. Sorry, but I have to say this; with the exception of the faithful few, I fear that Europe is on the fast track to hell.

Satan has placed blinders on the rest of the world because they refuse to recognize the real enemy which is presently dwelling among them. These are the same people who sacrificed their children to idols by throwing them into a fiery cauldron. What would be the difference if they strapped a bomb on their children and send them into a crowded shopping district for the sake of jihad? There are no more vile and wicked people than these Islamic extremists who who would send their innocent children to their deaths in order to advance their evil cause in the name of Allah.

As current events unfold, such as what's going on with Iran and its all too familiar rhetoric by its leaders, it is extremely important this next presidential election who we put the Oval Office. A president who wants us to be liked and go along with the rest of the world, or a president who stands up for the United States and Israel, adhere to our Constitution, keeping us apart from the rest of the world. How can God say it any plainer, I will bless the nation that stands with Israel.

ARE WE GETTING CLOSE

Ever since the 1970 about the time Hal Lindsey's Late Great Planet Earth was number one on the New York Times best seller list, and all time best seller of 15 million copies world wide, I have been interested in end time prophesies. I confess that I was really confused and with world situation at that time couldn't see how much of what Lindsey wrote would be possible. Of course, we can see now the all this is subject to change. Recently, the Eruo, the EU currency is replacing the dollar as the currency of choice. How long that will last, who knows? I can remember back in the eighties when the Yen was highly touted as the currency of the future, but as history has shown us, it didn't happen. The dollar came back.

In all the modern day prophetic literature, one thing also stands out, that is the United States is not mentioned. Perhaps this why I feel that the United States is a nation apart, sanctified if you will, because we are One Nation Under God founded on Godly principles. Another reason is that we are the most blessed nation on the face of this earth is that we are Israel' s only real alli.

God says in His Word that he would bless the nation that blesses Israel and curse the ones that are against Israel. I have noticed that when the United States was coddling the Palestinian Liberation Orginization, for instance when Yassir Arafat was allowed to stay at Whitehouse, things, mostly a lot of little things started turning negative. Already, throngs of Muslims are marching and making demands throughout Europe. The passive governments are cowering to the demands made and the situation is getting worse. In the not too distant future, the French are going to wake up to discover that they are now an Islamic republic.

Since the United States is not referred to in the end time prophesies, one of two or both of these things may take place. The tribulation, destruction of Israel along with armegeddon would confined to just that part of the world and it would happen so fast that the United States would not have time to react. The other really scares me, that the United States abandons Israel and leaves them hanging out to dry. Israel is left with only its Samson Option, destroy yourselves and take as many enemies with you as you can. A lot depends on who we can elect President of the United States whether or not the United States supports Israel. The Europeans consider themselves to be superior and enlightened who have failed to learn from the lessons of history and therefore doomed to repeat it. Sorry I have to say this, but I fear that Europe is on the fast track to hell.

Perhaps satan has placed blinders on a lot of people because they refuse to recognize the real enemy. These are the same people that were sacraficing their children to idols 3500 years ago by throwing them into a firey cauldron. What's the difference if they strap suicide bombs on their children and send them into shopping districts in the name of jihad. Islamic extremists are evil, wicked and to them life is cheap.

As current events unfold, such as what's happening with Iran and its all too familiar rhetoric coming from its leaders, it is extremely important this next presidential election who we put in the Oval Office. A president who wants us to liked by the rest of the world and join with them, or a president who will stand up for us and Israel and adhere to our Constitution, keeping us apart from the rest of the world. God has plainly stated, "I will bless the nation that stands with Israel."
